Company Profile

The Suhana story began in 1962, when Rajasthan-based husband and wife duo, Shri. Hukmichand Chordia and Smt. Kamalbai Chordia really had no idea how far their tiny venture born from compulsion would carry them and two generations of their family (so far) to follow.

When bad fortune hits hard, one usually looks towards one’s strongest skill, as that’s always the best bet to help stay afloat. And, thus, Suhana’s founders launched into the production of a small line of home-made spices, or “masalas”. The spices were made by Smt. Kamalbai Chordia in small quantities every day, and sold by her husband Shri. Hukmichand Chordia. The couple used only fresh raw materials from the market and customers just loved the recipes and the quality of the masalas. There was no looking back! By the time the next generation got involved, the business was already quite large.

The Founder couple’s sons Rajkumar Chordia and Pradip Chordia acquired about 10 acres of land in Hadaspar Industrial Estate, where they established a manufacturing unit. The product range was expanded considerably, including extending the line to pickles and papads. A thrust was also given to upgrading technology, packaging, and new manpower was constantly hired to keep up with soaring production.

In 1999, third-generation of the business, Vishal Chordia took over the reins of the Company. Realising that the masala industry had moved from a seller’s to a buyer’s market, he led the management team to undertake massive branding exercises.

In 2001, a large and state-of-the-art Research & Development Cell was set up.

In 2004, Rajkumar’s younger son Anand Chordia, who has a Masters in Food Technology joined the company and began looking after the back-end operations.

In 2007, the management started penetrating the exports segment significantly. They would then and continue to this day, fly down to various countries to understand the specific needs of the markets.

Today, Suhana products are exported to 21 countries across 5 continents.
In 2007-08, the Company launched ready-to-cook spices, for which it was pioneer in India.

We are now in the process of launching sales directly through our website as well.
Today, we spread ourselves quite wide. As long as there’s someone wanting to create great food, we would love to be right there helping! We are as comfortable with interacting with customers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as we are with dealing directly with super-stockists, distributors, retailers and consumers in rural India.
