Drug Category: Antibiotic Pharmaceutical Form: Sterile Injectable Solution. Composition: Each ml of Solution contains Lincomycin base 50 mg/ml as HCl & Spectinomycin base 100 mg/ml as Sulfate. Mechanism of Actions: Lincomycin binds exclusively to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and suppresses protein synthesis. Lincomycin is active against Gram – Positive organisms including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Clostridium tetani, and mycoplama spp and clostridium perfringens. Spectinomycin is an aminocyclitol antibiotic similar in action to aminoglycosides. Spectinomycin bind to 30 S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and suppress protein synthesis .Spectinomycin is active against a wide range of pathogens, particularly Gram – negative organisms and mycoplasma. Lincomycin + Spectinomycin is the all – purpose, ultra- spectrum antibiotic combination that offers effective protection against both gram – positive and gram – negative bacteria. INDICATIONS: This drug is indicated for use in cattle , calves , sheep , goats , poultry , dogs and cats for the treatment of infections caused by , or associated with , organisms sensitive to lincomycin and spectinomycin , including : Sheep, goats: for the treatment of respiratory disease due to mycoplasma and infection with bacteria sensitive to lincomycin and spectinomycin. for the treatment of foot – rot caused by bacterioides. nodusus. CALVES: For the treatment of respiratory infections and Enteritis due to bacterial sensitive to this drug. Cats & dogs: For the treatment of respiratory infections and infections of the skin and adjoining tissues. DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: Cattle, Calves, Sheep & goats:1-2 ml per 10 kg bodyweight, IM twice daily for 3 to 5 days. Cats, Dogs: 1 ml per 5 kg bodyweight. IM may be repeated at 12 or 24 hours interval for up 5 days. ADVE RSE AND COMMON SIDE EFFECTS: Neuromuscular blockade is a rare side effect, which can be reversed by parenteral calcium administration. Local myositis may occur at the injection site. Drug Interactions: Antagonism may occur if the drug is used concurrently with chloramphenicol or tetracycline. Contra- Indication, warning, etc: Lincomycin has been associated with Lethal Complication in horses. Not to be used in animals hypersensitive to Lincomycin Withdrawal time: Meat: 7 days after last treatment. Milk: 3 days after last treatment.
